Planning a Missions Activity?
by Karl Bozeman

Each Royal Ambassador chapter is involved in studying about or doing missions. Missions is our purpose.

  • Some missions activities are done in the chapter meeting. This includes the counselor telling the mission story, planning missions projects, studying about missions and missionaries, praying for mission work and missionaries, writing to missionaries, giving to missions, etc.

  • Some missions activities (often referred to as projects) are done outside the chapter meeting. These may include helping a shut-in or handicapped person, doing something special for an ill person--like sending a card, or collecting clothes to put in a clothes closet for people in need. Other chapters have collected money to provide Royal Ambassador materials for a chapter in a "pioneer area."

Here are some GUIDELINES for planning a missions project:

  • What is the purpose of the missions project?

  • Does it meet a need no one else is meeting at this time?

  • Does it respect the dignity of the person being helped?

  • Is this activity on the level of the boys' understanding and their ability to perform?

  • Are resources available, both personnel and money?

  • Do you need ideas?
