A Sure-Fire Way To Have a Better Crusader Chapter
by Ken Bozeman

Crusader Leaders can drop from exhaustion and their RA chapter might not change. There is a sure way to improve your Crusader Chapter. Take advantage of every opportunity to involve the parents of your Crusaders. Try these ideas.

PARENT MEETINGS

  • Early in the church year, conduct a parent-son meeting to get acquainted and to explain the advancement program. [Note: Contact Rob Carr at 770-410-6449 for copies of the Parent Brochure "Because He is Worth It."] This is a good time to give the Crusaders their Page, Squire, or Knight Personal Growth Plan Books.
  • Quarterly meetings with all parents as suggested in the leadership magazine.
  • Invite one or two parents to attend a chapter meeting each week until all have attended a regular session.

MISSIONS ACTIVITIES

  • Trips where you need adult help or just in an effort to expose parents to what is going on in RAs.
  • Family missions projects.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

  • Missions Studies
  • Personal Growth Plan work.
  • Periodic socials or refreshments for boys.

INTEREST ACTIVITIES

  • Touring places where parents work. This can be an excellent source of interest activity and missions study.
  • Sharing responsibilities in sports or camping activities.
  • Sharing of hobbies and instruction in woodworking, gardening, etc.

RECOGNITION SERVICES

  • In front of the entire congregation--parents like to see their children recognized.
  • During a chapter meeting.
  • Special banquets.
