For the past few months, the Kidzplace team at the North American Mission Board has been developing our second online animated gospel presentation for children. It is an interactive presentation that allows the children to move characters on the screen and presents the gospel in a fun and engaging way. Children are then invited to learn more about Christ through an interactive response system. This response network involves local churches as the main vehicle for following up with interested children. Our internet research indicates that the North American Mission Board is the first to offer an evangelistic thrust for children on the Web! We are very excited about the presentation's potential, as the internet is largely an untapped resource for children's evangelism. At last count, Kidzplace gets just over a hundred users per day ("user sessions," for those familiar with the terminology). If we assume only one user per day is an unsaved child, that's 365 children who will hear the gospel in one year! Those figures will grow as Kidzplace becomes more widely known. What software or equipment do I need to view it? As always, we have tried to keep the technical end as simple as possible, but new technology always raises some issues. At the very basic level, you will need a Windows 95 PC with a modem and sound card (with speakers connected). We recommend at least a Pentium 200 with 32MB of RAM and a display setting of 800x600 at high color (if your video card and monitor allow, you can change these settings on the "Control Panel"). The faster the machine, the better the animation will look and sound. The presentation was developed using the latest Macromedia Flash technology, and a browser plugin may be required. If you can't see the presentation, you should first try to download the free Macromedia Flash plugin. Note that the Flash plugin will install itself. Almost any modem 28.8 Kbps and above will work fine; it's the speed of your computer that will most affect animation speed. Also note that higher traffic times might result in animation pauses. We are working to keep the file size as small as possible to minimize animation glitches. How do I link to the presentation? Below you will find three buttons you may use to link to the presentation. They will bypass the Kidzplace homepage and go directly to the presentation. You may use these buttons however you wish, but please do not alter the button or its hyperlink in any way. To put the graphic on your site, simply copy the HTML code for the button you wish to use, then paste it onto your HTML page. Thank you very much for your interest in reaching children with the gospel!
