Try This!

You’ve heard the saying, “Don’t try this at home!”  Well, we want to encourage you to try these ideas at home, at school, in your neighborhood, and other places!  As you do, you’ll be on your way to thinking like a missionary and sharing God’s love—and you’ll have fun doing it!

Make sure you consult with your parents or leaders to make sure you have the right equipment and materials for the suggestions below.  Let them know what you are doing—and why!

Do you want to suggest something you’ve done?  We’d love to hear from you, and we’ll possibly print your idea on this page.  Send us photos of you or your group involved in missions!  Send to children@namb.net, or write to us at:

Pray
Begin praying for your friends (and enemies) who don’t know Jesus or go to church.  Ask God to help you show love and kindness to them the way Jesus would.  Ask God to provide you an opportunity to share Christ with them.

Be Ready to Share
Carry a witnessing booklet (a printed booklet that explains what it means to be a Christian) with you where ever you go.  Keep it in your backpack, a book, or your pocket.  Look for opportunities to give it away.

Show Kindness
Do something nice for a neighbor.  Walk a pet.  Give them a special gift.  Write a note.  Show kindness to them in a special way by helping them. Help a friend learn a new game, sport, or activity.  Show them you care by helping them learn something new.

Neighborhood Door Hangers
Print out these door hangers. Decorate them with attractive pictures. Print your church name, address, phone number, web site (if your church has one), and times (Sunday School and church start times). With a friend or family member, go around to houses in your neighborhood and leave a door hanger invitation on their door.

Free Refreshment Stand
Set up a free refreshment stand in your neighborhood. When someone asks you why it is free, tell them you are doing this to show the love of Jesus. You may want a parent with you to help you share with adults. Ideas for refreshments: Lemonade, chocolate chip cookies. Visit Betty Crocker's web site and do a search for "cookies" to view hundreds of delicious cookie recipes.

Gift Wrapping Paper with a Mission
For birthdays or for Christmas right around the corner, make your own wrapping paper. You will need tissue paper, brown grocery bags, sponge shapes, tempera paint, your thumb, and stamp pads. It is easy to make gift wrap. Practice making designs (on newspaper) before you start to decorate the tissue (or brown bag paper). Spread the tissue out on a flat surface. Dip the sponge shapes into the tempera paint and then onto the tissue paper. Let the paper dry. Add your thumbprint shapes at various places on the paper. Let the paper dry before wrapping your gifts. Try to make a heart, a family portrait, a cross, a Christmas wreath, a snow man, or a reindeer from your thumbprints. Write out favorite Bible verses on your gift paper as a final touch! Have fun!

Back to School--New Friends-- Movie Night
It's the start of a new school year. You're meeting new friends. Why not have a Back-To-School-New-Friend Movie Night? Visit LifeWay Stores On-line to check out the latest children's videos--like VeggieTales. Pop some popcorn, put on the movie, dim the lights and have a fun time with your new friends! Showing a Christian video is a fun way to share Jesus with your friends!
