Suggestions
for Conducting the Race
(Note: From the Georgia Men's Ministry Handbook)
"This is a good mission activity and an interest activity that the
RAs do across the nation. But a special time to race their handmade wooden
RA Race Car is at the RA Congress. The boys will compete by grade level
and award ribbons will be awarded for 1st., 2nd., or 3rd. place finish.
These little wood cars can really go fast down the 28 foot race track, and
the boys like to paint them to match their favorite NASCAR drivers."

BIBLE BOWL COMPETITION
Part of a Bible Drill Program, boys learn Bible verses
(25 verses and 10 key passages, for example) during the year. They are
allowed to use these verses toward the Royal Ambassador Bronze Memory
Medal.
MISSION SPEAK-OUT
This is a competition at the Statewide RA Congress.
Each Lad or Crusader writes a 2-3 minute speech on being on-mission. They
are judged on content, delivery, and composition. The boys earn ribbons
for their finish. (At Fort Mill First we also encourage the RAs to
speak out by giving the first place finishers a cash award as well.--Gary
Holland)
MISSION BOWL
Mission Bowl is a RA team event at the Statewide RA
Congress. A team is comprised of 4 Lads or Crusaders and they are
challenged to answer 20 questions from either "Lad" or
"Crusader" magazine. The top 3 teams earn ribbons for their
finish.
RA SHOOTOUT
The RA Shootout is an activity that Anderson College
(one of the 3 Baptist supported colleges in SC) holds each year. The
College invites RAs from across the state to attend a basketball clinic,
(conducted by the coaches and players), participate in a worship service,
eat a hotdog supper and attend the men's basketball game. During the
half-time the RAs lead in the RA Pledge and have shootout competition for
trophies. Shootout competition is by grades and includes lay-ups, free
throws, jump shots, etc. The RAs really like the challenge of the clinic,
worship messages, and autographs from the Cheerleaders.
RIFLE
At the RA Congress the RAs are allowed to enter a rifle
shooting competition. They actually learn gun safety and how to load, aim,
and shoot a BB gun. They shoot from a prone position at a target 15 feet
away. Scoring is by a point system with a bulls eye worth 10 pts.
