The Parts of the RA Emblem and their purposes
^back to the top ^
  • The Words RA--Royal Ambassadors
    An ambassador is a representative in a court or nation other than his own. Royal Ambassadors are representatives of Christ the King bringing good news of salvation to people everywhere. The RA Motto reads, "We are Ambassadors for Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:20).
  • The Shield
    The shield stands for faith in Christ (Ephesians 6:16). This symbol represents the journey of faith and a commitment to having faith in Christ.
  • The Crown
    The crown stands for Christ the King and what He represents (James 1:12). As a follower and ambassador of Christ, we are to stay focused on Jesus and his message to the world.
  • The Branch
    The branch is for achievement and victory in the work of being an Ambassador for Christ (Matthew 25:21). Combining skills and actions help accomplish the goal of carrying the gospel to people needing to hear it.
  • The Colors
    Blue represents the boys' loyalty to Christ, His church, and each other.
    Gold represents the worth of the boy to God's mission.
    White represents purity of living, which makes him an effective ambassador.

Helpful Tips in Getting Started
^back to the top ^
  • Meet with leaders and church staff to determine the time, day, and place for the chapter meetings and start-up events. Also, discuss issues like the use of space for activities, policies on taking trips, and emergency policies. Begin promoting the activities to the boys and their parents.
  • Consider a parent/son event as an introductory meeting or to get them to "sign up." The event can have food, games, introduction of the leaders, and handouts giving the purpose of RAs, leader contact information, and calendar activities. Suggestions for RA Kick Off.[INSERT PDF HERE]
  • Register your chapter. Registration is a yearly process to keep your state RA leaders updated on your RA organization and leadership. A registration form is found in the annual RA Planbook and in the Easy RA Planbook.
  • Name your RA Chapter after a Missionary. Whether the name represents a North American Mission Board missionary, a International Mission Board missionary, or someone who has been involved in missionary service and is an example of an on-mission Christian, each chapter is encouraged to include that name as a part of their chapter name. You can use the name in promotion such as “The Bill Wallace Lad Chapter” or as a way of pointing to this person’s life as one who is on mission for God. Some chapters communicate with the person or family their chapter is named for and pray for them in their chapter meeting. They may also include them in birthday and holiday celebrations by sending cards or by inviting them to chapter meetings if they live nearby. Other chapters learn all they can about their missionary from biographies. Missionary names can be obtained by contacting the International Mission Board at www.imb.org or the North American Mission Board at www.namb.net. For NAMB missionary info, click here. The Five Components of the RA Organization
^back to the top ^
  • CHAPTER MEETING
    A Chapter Meeting is when a group of RAs and their leaders meet:
    To encourage boys to live out their RA pledge commitment and to personally challenge a boy to do his best to fulfill that commitment. The meeting also involves following a meeting plan for using resources that reinforce the pledge.

    There are three basic methods of leading RAs. More>>

  • ON-MISSION PROJECTS
    Through on-mission projects, RAs and their leaders help communicate Jesus and His love to people. Click Here for Mission Project Ideas >> [INSERT HYPERLINK HERE]
  • INTEREST ACTIVITIES
    Royal Ambassadors incorporate fun into the learning process. Interest activities help make RAs fun. Interest activities include games, play, drama, crafts, camping, fishing, sports, hiking, trips, and hobbies. Click Here for Interest Activities >> [INSERT HYPERLINK HERE]
  • MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS
    The best gift an RA leader can give is his time, his love, and his guidance. The best gift an RA can return to a leader is his time, his love, and his followership. Loving each boy for who he is and guiding him where he needs to be is the task of the RA leader. Loving him involves:
    praying for him daily;
    listening;
    sharing encouragement;
    letting him do it, too;
    giving clear directions;
    showing him how;
    being a real friend;
    sharing God's love
